Only remove one-third of the grass height when you mow to prevent damage and stress to the lawn. Taking too much off at once starves the roots and may expose new lower leaves to sunburn.

Proper landscaping means understanding the difference between edging and trimming. With edging, an actual cut is made in the lawn. This “edge” puts a line between the grass and borders or sidewalks. Trimming is cutting grass in spaces where your lawn mower can't reach, such as against a wall or fence.

“Trimming” refers to cutting the turf height horizontally, just like your lawn mower does. Trimming is performed in places the mower cannot reach, like at the interior corner of a fence. The mower's turning radius will not usually allow for mowing all the way to the fence.
